About Me
Hi! My name’s Morgan and… I’m not a winner. Every scholarship I applied for got denied, every audition I went to got ignored, and don’t even get me started on this whole dating situation. Patrick Swayze better show up fast because I’ve been ghosted one too many times. Who you gonna call? Not me, apparently. ‘No’ is one of the most prominent words in my receiving dictionary, so let me tell you when I finally got my ‘Yes’ from Camp Tazo, it’s safe to say that I hit the jackpot.
Despite being picked and being surrounded by these humans who became my instant Tazo Family, I still remember one moment when I sat back and thought to myself, “Why me? Why am I here? I don’t have these amazing stories of battling cancer, being a Navy Vet, owning shops and restaurants, being a teacher, body positivity, taking pictures in NYC, writing for magazines and entertainment media, being a freaking mother! I don’t have any of that. I’m just Morgan.” And for a moment I was scared; scared that I was talking to much, not talking enough, too boring, too bubbly, too this, too that. But not once did someone tell me to be quiet, not once did anyone laugh, not once was I ignored. I always had an ear to listen, a hug to receive, and a friend to sit by.
So no, I’m not a winner. I’m a Camper. I’m someone who’s been bullied for my weight and been told to be quiet, but now I’m laughing the loudest I can and being called “Daisy Dukes” by the one and only Alyssa Edwards. I’m someone who cheers for everyone, even if my team is dead last (love you Green Team). I’m someone who’s been told ‘No’ so many times, but never did it stop me from getting my ‘Yes’. And that’s who I was surrounded by at Camp Tazo. It didn’t matter where you came from, what you did, or where you were going. At the end of the day, we all had similar sticks to burn.
So, thank you Camp Tazo, for reminding me that “Just Morgan” is enough.
